Yela S. evokes: “From Ratne, they were taken in trucks to the forest. The trucks stopped about 100m from the pit and the [Jews] were forced to run towards the pit. They ran in two toward the big pit. Then, they positioned themselves at the edge of the pit and were shot. A German with a submachine gun remained standing 5m away from the pit. They requisitioned a dozen local people to dig the pit.” (Eyewitness N°469, interviewed in Prokhid, on April 04, 2007)
